Description

BT150A Wheel Hub Stud

The BT150A Hub Stud 290-037136 is a replacement wheel / hub stud used on compatible EZ Loader BT150A style trailer hubs. This stud measures 1/2"-20 x 1.71" and helps secure the trailer wheel to the hub assembly.

This part is used on compatible hub applications that use wheel studs and lug nuts, not direct-thread lug bolts. Correct stud fitment matters because the hub, wheel, thread pitch, stud length, and lug nut style all need to work together to safely clamp the wheel to the trailer hub.

The stud is zinc plated for corrosion resistance in marine trailer use. It is commonly replaced when the existing stud is corroded, stripped, damaged, stretched, missing, or no longer holds the lug nut properly.

Key Features

  • Replacement wheel / hub stud for compatible BT150A style trailer hubs
  • 1/2"-20 thread size
  • 1.71" stud length
  • Zinc-plated steel for marine trailer corrosion resistance
  • Used with a compatible lug nut to secure the trailer wheel to the hub

Important Difference: Hub Stud vs. Lug Bolt

This part is a wheel / hub stud for compatible BT150A style trailer hubs. It is not a lug bolt.

A hub stud remains installed in the hub, and the trailer wheel is secured with a separate lug nut. A lug bolt passes through the wheel and threads directly into the hub. An old-style brass screw-in lug stud is another fastener style used on select older threaded hubs.

Before ordering, compare your existing fastener style and confirm the hub application.

Typical EZ Loader Trailer Applications

This stud is commonly used on compatible EZ Loader boat trailers equipped with BT150A style wheel hubs. These hubs are part of the trailer’s running gear system and support the wheel, bearings, seal, hub cap, and lubrication setup.

BT150A style hubs may be serviced differently depending on whether the trailer uses oil bath or grease-style hub components. Confirm your specific hub configuration before ordering related hub oil, grease, seals, caps, or bearing parts.

Associated / Compatible Parts

These related parts may be used when servicing compatible EZ Loader trailer hubs. Confirm your specific hub style before ordering.

Note: The lug bolt and brass screw-in lug stud shown above are comparison parts only. They are different fastener styles and should not be substituted for this BT150A hub stud unless your hub specifically uses that style.

Installation Considerations

  • Confirm the hub is a compatible BT150A style trailer hub before installation.
  • Inspect the hub, stud hole, wheel seat, and lug nut before reassembly.
  • Replace damaged, stretched, corroded, loose, or stripped studs before towing.
  • Use the correct matching lug nut for the wheel and hub setup.
  • Start all lug nuts by hand to reduce the chance of cross-threading.
  • Torque wheel fasteners to the proper specification for your trailer, hub, and wheel.

Fitment Guidance

This is not a universal trailer wheel stud.

  • Confirm your hub style is BT150A or compatible with this stud.
  • Confirm the thread size is 1/2"-20.
  • Confirm the stud length is 1.71".
  • Confirm your setup uses wheel studs and lug nuts, not direct-thread lug bolts.
  • Confirm whether your hub is oil bath or grease-style before ordering related service parts.

Real-World Insight

Wheel studs are small parts, but they carry important clamping load between the trailer wheel and hub. If a stud is rusty, stripped, loose, stretched, or damaged from over-tightening, it should be replaced before towing. While the wheel is off, it is also a good time to inspect the hub cap, seal area, bearing condition, lug nuts, and lubrication system.
