EZ Loader 6-Lug Oil Bath Hub Cap O-Ring – 250-034393
The EZ Loader 6-lug oil bath hub cap O-ring, part number 250-034393, is a replacement sealing component for compatible EZ Loader boat trailer oil-lubricated wheel hub caps. This O-ring helps form a seal between the oil hub cap and its mating hub surface, reducing the risk of lubricant leakage and outside contamination.
Important fitment distinction: This O-ring is intended for the compatible 6-lug oil bath hub cap and will not fit the 5-lug hub cap. Confirm your hub configuration and cap design before ordering.
What Does an Oil Bath Hub Cap O-Ring Do?
Oil-bath trailer hubs use liquid lubricant to lubricate their wheel bearings. The hub cap closes the outer end of the hub assembly, while the O-ring helps seal the interface between the cap and the mating hub surface.
When the O-ring is correctly sized and installed, it helps:
- Retain hub lubricant: Reduce oil leakage at the hub cap sealing interface.
- Limit water intrusion: Help protect the oil-lubricated bearing assembly from outside moisture.
- Reduce contamination: Limit the entry of road grime, dirt, and debris through the cap joint.
- Maintain sealing performance: Provide a replaceable seal during hub cap removal and routine maintenance.
The O-ring does not lubricate the bearings by itself. Its purpose is to help maintain the sealing integrity of the oil-bath hub cap assembly.
Why Is a Proper Hub Cap Seal Important?
Boat trailer hubs are regularly exposed to water, road spray, temperature changes, and vibration. An incorrectly sized, damaged, hardened, or missing O-ring can allow lubricant to escape or moisture to enter the hub.
Loss of lubricant or contamination may contribute to premature bearing wear, corrosion, overheating, or hub failure. Maintaining the correct O-ring seal is therefore an important part of servicing oil-lubricated boat trailer hubs.
When Should the O-Ring Be Replaced?
- When the existing O-ring is cut, cracked, flattened, hardened, or visibly damaged.
- When oil seepage is observed around the hub cap sealing joint.
- When the O-ring has become stretched or no longer fits correctly in its intended sealing position.
- When the hub cap is removed and the seal cannot be confidently reused according to the manufacturer's service instructions.
- During hub maintenance when inspection indicates deterioration of the existing seal.

Installation and Maintenance Recommendations
Before installing the replacement O-ring, inspect the hub cap, sealing groove, and mating surface for damage, corrosion, dirt, or old sealing material. A new O-ring may not correct leakage caused by a cracked cap or damaged sealing surface.
- Confirm that the hub cap is the correct 6-lug oil-bath design.
- Remove the old O-ring carefully without scratching the sealing surfaces.
- Clean the O-ring groove and mating surfaces according to the hub manufacturer's instructions.
- Inspect the replacement O-ring for damage before installation.
- Position the O-ring evenly without twisting, cutting, or overstretching it.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for compatible seal lubrication, hub cap installation, and tightening.
- Fill or verify the hub oil level using the lubricant and procedure specified for the hub.
- Inspect the hub cap for oil leakage after installation and during subsequent trailer checks.
Safety Notice: Do not tow with an oil-bath hub that has a known lubricant leak, inadequate oil level, or suspected bearing damage. Identify and correct the underlying problem before returning the trailer to service.
6-Lug vs. 5-Lug Oil Bath Hub Caps
EZ Loader trailer hub assemblies can use different cap and seal configurations. Although some hub caps may look similar, their O-rings are not necessarily interchangeable.
Part 250-034393 is specified for the compatible 6-lug oil hub cap and does NOT fit the 5-lug version. If you are unsure which O-ring your trailer requires, compare the existing cap and seal with the replacement specifications and provide your trailer VIN or hub information when requesting fitment assistance.
